Submersible Cutter Pump — Chopping Sewage Pump Manufacturer India
Heavy-duty submersible cutter pumps with hardened steel cutting mechanism for shredding fibrous waste, rags, wipes, and organic solids. Ideal for municipal sewage, hotels, hospitals, and residential complexes. Flow rates up to 100 m³/hr.
About Submersible Cutter Pumps
Flow Chem submersible cutter pumps are specifically designed for wastewater applications containing fibrous materials that clog conventional sewage pumps. The integrated cutting system features a hardened steel cutter plate that shreds rags, wipes, sanitary products, and organic matter into small particles before pumping.
Manufactured at our ISO 9001:2015 certified facility in Gujarat, our cutter pumps use a precision-engineered cutting mechanism with S-shaped impeller that rotates against a stationary cutting ring. This dual-action system reduces solids to a pumpable size, preventing clogging and ensuring uninterrupted operation.
Flow Chem cutter pumps are ideal for locations where conventional sewage pumps face frequent clogging from fibrous waste — including hotels, hospitals, shopping malls, residential townships, and municipal lift stations.
How Cutter Pumps Work
Integrated cutting mechanism shreds solids before pumping — preventing clogs and blockages
Wastewater containing fibrous solids, rags, wipes, and organic matter enters the pump through the bottom suction inlet. The open design allows large debris to reach the cutting chamber without pre-screening.
The rotating S-shaped impeller with hardened cutting edges rotates against a stationary cutting ring made of high-chrome stainless steel. Fibrous materials are sheared and shredded into small pumpable particles.
Shredded particles pass through the volute casing and are discharged through the connection. The centrifugal action provides efficient pumping of the macerated wastewater to the discharge point or sewer main.
Cutting blades manufactured from high-chrome stainless steel (HCR 55+). The stationary cutting ring and rotating cutter edges maintain sharpness over extended operation, reducing maintenance frequency.
Double mechanical seals with oil chamber protect the motor from water ingress. Silicon carbide and tungsten carbide seal faces provide superior resistance to abrasives in sewage applications.
Class F insulation motor with built-in thermal overload protection. Automatic winding sensors prevent motor damage from overheating during dry running, overload, or high-ambient conditions.

Applications
Cutter pumps excel where fibrous and soft solids cause clogging in conventional pumps
Hotels and Resorts
Pumping wastewater from hotel kitchens, laundries, and guest rooms. Shreds towels, wipes, sanitary products, and food waste that frequently clog standard sewage pumps.
Hospitals and Healthcare
Handling medical wastewater containing surgical gauze, cotton, bandages, and sanitary waste. Essential for hospital effluent systems where clog-free operation is critical for hygiene.
Shopping Malls
Efficient pumping of restroom and food court wastewater in high-traffic commercial complexes. Handles paper towels, wipes, and organic waste from public restrooms.
Residential Townships
Lift station pumping for large residential complexes and gated communities. Prevents clogging from household sewage containing wipes, feminine hygiene products, and paper waste.
Municipal Sewage Systems
Municipal lift stations and force mains where fibrous solids accumulate. For raw sewage with high rag and debris content, standard sewage pumps can be used in combination.
Food Processing
Kitchen waste and food processing effluent containing organic solids, vegetable matter, and fibrous food waste. Cuts through soft organic material for smooth, clog-free pumping.
Airports and Transit Hubs
High-traffic public restroom wastewater pumping at airports, railway stations, and bus terminals. Handles the high volume of wipes and paper products typical of transport facilities.
Marine and Maritime
Marine sewage holding tank pumping for ships and offshore platforms. Compact design and clog-free operation make cutter pumps ideal for confined marine installations.
Cutter Pump vs Standard Sewage Pump
Choose the right pump type based on your wastewater characteristics
🔪 Submersible Cutter Pump
Best for: Wastewater with fibrous materials — rags, wipes, towels, cotton, paper products.
Integrated cutting mechanism shreds solids BEFORE pumping. Prevents clogging in applications where soft, fibrous waste is the primary concern. Ideal for hotels, hospitals, malls, and residential complexes.
Limitation: Not designed for hard solids like gravel or rocks. For heavy inorganic solids, consider a standard sewage sludge pump or drainage pump.
🔄 Standard Sewage Pump
Best for: Raw sewage with mixed solids — organic matter, grit, small stones, and general wastewater.
Non-clog impeller design passes solids up to 60mm without cutting. Higher flow capacity (up to 130 m³/hr). Better for municipal STPs, industrial wastewater, and dewatering applications.
Limitation: Can clog when fibrous materials (rags, wipes) accumulate and wrap around the impeller.

🔪 Precision Cutting System
High-chrome stainless steel cutting blades (HRC 55+) maintain sharpness over thousands of operating hours. The S-shaped impeller and stationary ring create a precise shearing action that shreds fibrous waste effectively.
🛡️ Double Mechanical Seals
Silicon carbide and tungsten carbide seal faces in a double-seal arrangement with oil chamber. Provides defense-in-depth protection — even if the primary seal wears, the secondary seal prevents motor flooding.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a cutter pump and a sewage pump?
A cutter pump has an integrated cutting mechanism that shreds fibrous materials (rags, wipes, towels) before pumping — ideal for hotels, hospitals, and malls. A standard sewage pump passes solids up to 60mm through a non-clog impeller without cutting — better for raw municipal sewage and industrial wastewater with mixed inorganic solids.
Can a cutter pump handle hard solids like stones and gravel?
Cutter pumps are designed for soft, fibrous solids (rags, wipes, organic matter). For wastewater containing hard inorganic solids like stones, gravel, or metal debris, we recommend a sewage sludge pump or drainage pump with non-clog impeller design.
How often do the cutting blades need replacement?
Blade replacement intervals depend on the solids content and operating hours. In typical hotel and residential applications, blades last 2-4 years. In heavy-duty municipal applications with high rag content, annual inspection is recommended. Replacement blades are readily available from Flow Chem.
Can cutter pumps run continuously 24/7?
Yes. Flow Chem cutter pumps are rated for continuous duty (S1 duty cycle) with Class F insulation motors. For 24/7 applications, we recommend 4-pole models (1450 RPM) which offer reduced wear and longer service life compared to 2-pole high-speed models.
Do you provide installation services for cutter pumps?
Yes, Flow Chem provides end-to-end pump installation services across India — including site assessment, sump design, pump installation, electrical connections, commissioning, and operator training. Contact us for a free site evaluation.
